When I first started doing SEO for my websites I knew that backlinks would make my site rank higher in the search engines. What I didn’t know was the difference in the quality of a backlink. Since backlinks can range from PR0-PR10, there is a big difference in the link
value.
In case you don’t know what PR means, it stands for (Pagerank). It’s a measure of what Google feels is least important to most important. A PR0 would be the lowest quality, while PR10 would be the highest quality.
Most backlinks to your website are PR0 if you’re using services or software, such as SENUKE, Scrapebox, etc…Most people think if they have 1000 backlinks, they’ll rank a lot higher for the keyword they’re going after.
That’s not necessarily true! Since most backlinks are PR0…1000 PR0 links really aren’t that strong when you compare it to a single PR5 link. I feel you do need a mix of low and high quality links to your site, but it’s much easier to rank when you have high PR links rather than low PR links. You could have 2000 PR0 links, but just a few PR4 links would easily be stronger than the PR0 links. The big problem is…IT’S NOT EASY GETTING PR2-PR5 BACKLINKS!
I personally was having trouble, so what I decided to do what to build my own SEO network of high pagerank domains. Now I don’t have any problems trying to find high PR websites to backlink to my money sites.
I did an initial test is a pretty tough market (iPad) and found a term: “where to buy ipad”
that gets 5400 exact match searches every month and has 200 million entries in Google!
Here’s a screenshot of a blog post I made and just 11 days after I made this post, my article was #6 in Google for the term: “where to buy ipad” Granted Google gives you a little boost for new content and of course you will be subject to the “Google Dance” and drop your rankings..
It’s a great preview to determine where your site will end up after the Google Dance is over. So if you’re on the first page before the dance, you can expect to be in a similar position after the dance is over!
Taking into consideration that you are actively backlinking your site. The really awesome outcome of this test was the fact that I only use 8 backlinks from my SEO network to achieve those rankings! So you can imagine what type of power you could have if you did a backlink to all 50 sites in the network
